Scientific justification of the model for organizing pharmaceutical care for patients with burn wounds

Despite progress in the treatment of burn injury, the organizational principles of pharmaceutical care for patients with burn wounds remain insufficiently regulated and require systematic improvement. International recommendations substantiate the need for an interdisciplinary approach with the involvement of a clinical pharmacist, while the domestic regulatory and legal framework needs further harmonization with international standards. The aim of the work was to substantiate the organizational and pharmaceutical principles of improving pharmaceutical care for patients with a burn wound process based on the analysis of international clinical recommendations, professional guidelines, and the current regulatory and legal framework of Ukraine. Materials and methods. Bibliographical, information-analytical, systemic, structural-functional, content analysis of regulatory legal documents, and comparative-legal methods, as well as methods of logical generalization and modeling, were used. A comparative analysis of the international recommendations of WHO, ISBI, the American Burn Association, the European Burn Association, EWMA, Wounds International, IDSA recommendations, and the principles of Good Pharmacy Practice (WHO/FIP) and the current regulatory framework of Ukraine was carried out. Inadequate regulation of pharmaceutical care for patients with a burn wound process, the activities of a clinical pharmacist, algorithms for the rational selection of medicines, and modern dressing materials was established. A model of pharmaceutical care, an algorithm of pharmaceutical care, criteria for the selection of drugs, an organizational-pharmaceutical mechanism for implementing the model, and a system of indicators for evaluating its effectiveness are proposed. The proposed organizational and pharmaceutical solutions provide a comprehensive improvement of pharmaceutical care for patients with a burn wound process, covering all stages of treatment – from emergency care to outpatient follow-up and rehabilitation. A key element of the model is the integration of clinical pharmacy into the practice of health care institutions by expanding the functions of the clinical pharmacist to include the examination of drug prescriptions, monitoring the safety and effectiveness of pharmacotherapy, participation in antimicrobial stewardship programs, pharmacovigilance, and the implementation of pharmaceutical care in accordance with modern international recommendations. The practical significance of the proposed solutions lies in their potential use as a scientific and methodological basis for developing sectoral standards, clinical guidelines, local protocols, pharmaceutical care algorithms, and quality management systems for pharmaceutical care of patients with burn injuries.
