The Absolute Medium Principle: on Matter's Sourcing of Flow in the Medium

This document is the foundational statement of the Absolute Medium (AM) framework. Its purpose is to state the framework's principle precisely, to derive the sourcing law that follows from it, and to exhibit the mechanism by which matter couples to the Medium. It is not a survey of applications, nor a catalogue of consequences; it is the reference statement of what the AM is, and of why matter sources flow. A reader who wishes to learn what the framework claims, what it derives, and what it leaves open should be able to find the answer here, stated in the framework's own terms. The document is organized around a single two-clause principle: In the absence of matter the Medium is homogeneous and at rest; in the presence of matter the Medium moves in proportion to the matter suspended in it. Everything that follows is the working-out of this statement. The sourcing law is derived as a non-linear elastic field theory whose microscopic, mesoscopic, and macroscopic tiers are identified and related. The mechanism of sourcing is developed through the vacuum deficit and its two projections — the scalar projection onto the bulk elastic mode (the mass source) and the tensor projection onto the shear elastic mode (the strain charge) — and the two-sector structure that results is shown to resolve the apparent paradox of the polar-neutral neutron. The document is deliberately conservative about what it claims. It distinguishes throughout between what is derived from the Principle (the sourcing law, the single-coupling scheme, the two-sector structure, the far-field inflow profile) and what is modeled (the strain profile, the scarcity factor, the clock exponent, the specific form of the master line in the companion documents). It distinguishes between what is established (the dimensional consistency of the field equations, the uniqueness of the ground state, the calibration of the coupling from the proton flow) and what is open (the first-principles derivation of the strain and velocity profiles, the fractional exponent in the mass functional, the exact rotation rate and spin-down of the pulsar, the variational principle for collective alignment). The appendices are where these distinctions are made explicit and where the reader can verify them. This document is intended to be read alongside its companions. The most important is The Essential Physics of the Absolute Medium, which develops the parent framework in its full tenet--axiom architecture. A second is The Great Convergence, which develops the consequences of the framework for the five physical properties— energy density, gravitational potential, dissociative pressure, update rate, and inertial mass— and shows that they are functionals of a single field, concentrated at the active sheath, and informationally interchangeable. The present document is the foundation on which those developments rest.
