Effect of Solution-focused Outpatient Follow-up on Post-surgery Resilience and Sexual QoL in Cervical Cancer

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer patients often experience impaired psychological adaptation and sexual quality of life after surgery, highlighting the need for effective follow-up interventions. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association of an outpatient solution-focused follow-up intervention with postoperative psychological resilience, sexual quality of life, and related psychosocial outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This single-center retrospective cohort study included 115 patients (42 control, 73 intervention) treated between 2023 and 2025. Primary outcomes were psychological resilience [Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC)], sexual quality of life [Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)], and sexual distress [Female Sexual Distress Scale (FSDS)]. Secondary outcomes included anxiety and depression [Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)], overall quality of life [Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (QLQ-C30)], and self-efficacy (General Self-Efficacy Scale). Assessments were conducted before discharge and at 3 and 6 months postoperatively. Multivariable regression, linear mixed-effects models, and propensity score methods were applied. RESULTS: Baseline characteristics were comparable between groups. At 3 and 6 months, the intervention group showed higher CD-RISC and FSFI scores and lower FSDS scores. At 6 months, CD-RISC (72.6 vs 64.2), FSFI (26.9 vs 23.2), and FSDS (8.9 vs 12.1) significantly favored the intervention group. Multivariable analysis confirmed independent associations with improved outcomes. Secondary measures also showed consistent benefits. CONCLUSION: Solution-focused follow-up is associated with improved psychological and sexual outcomes, supporting its clinical utility in postoperative care.
