Active Learning Methodologies in Oral Histology and Embryology Education for Undergraduate Dental Students: A Scoping Review Protocol
Oral Histology and Oral Embryology are basic science subjects that require a high degree of visual and spatial reasoning and are often perceived as challenging by dental students. The Brazilian National Curriculum Guidelines recommend the use of active learning methodologies, and existing reviews have mapped active learning in undergraduate dental education in general, without focusing on basic science subjects with a microscopic foundation. The objective of this review is to map and characterize the evidence on active learning methodologies used in Oral Histology and/or Oral Embryology education for undergraduate dental students.
