Cosmic-string calorimetry with a 220\,PeV neutrino
KM3NeT has reported KM3-230213A, a $220$\,PeV neutrino with no source identified. If it comes from a cosmic-string network, energy conservation makes the event a calorimeter. The flux measures the power the network has spent, not how it emits, and a cusp at critical current can supply that power at unit efficiency. The event gives $Gμε_p=(2.8\text{--}4.3)\times10^{-11}$ for $f_ν=0.1$. Pulsar timing already reaches $10^{-10}$, so one event competes with the arrays. For the branch that still radiates gravitationally, flux and timing together require a third of the network's energy in particles, a share that further events above $100$\,PeV would measure.
