Conceptual aspects of strategic planning of a large metallurgical company

Subject. The conceptual foundations of strategic planning of large metallurgical companies and the possibilities of their practical application in modern conditions of industry development. Objectives. Development of conceptual provisions for strategic planning of large metallurgical companies based on the differentiation of the concepts of strategic planning and strategic management, the formation of an adaptive cyclical model for the preparation, implementation and adjustment of strategic decisions, as well as an assessment of its practical applicability. Methods. The research is based on systematic and comparative approaches, methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization, as well as a comparative analysis of industry statistics and corporate strategies of the largest metallurgical companies. Results. A conceptual model of strategic planning of a large metallurgical company has been developed based on the cyclical interaction of the stages of diagnosis, goal setting, implementation, adaptation and strategic monitoring. The proposed model provides continuous feedback and the ability to adjust strategic decisions based on changes in the external and internal environment. Conclusions. An analysis of the industry dynamics and strategies of the largest Russian metallurgical companies has confirmed the relevance of an adaptive approach to strategic planning and the need to integrate its key elements into a single system.
