Contextual approach to fostering courage and moral-volitional resilience in school students through physical education

The article substantiates the feasibility of applying a contextual approach to fostering courage and moral-volitional resilience in school students through physical education. The essence of the contextual approach is revealed as a way of organizing educational activities that involves the meaningful integration of physical exercises, motor tasks, and pedagogical situations that encourage school students to demonstrate moral-volitional qualities, facilitate the acquisition of personally meaningful experience, and promote its application in various real-life circumstances. The specific features of implementing the contextual approach are identified: establishing connections between motor activities and school students’ life experiences; gradually increasing the complexity of activities and the demands placed on students’ independence, concentration, self-control, and responsibility; providing opportunities for students to independently choose appropriate courses of action; organizing social interaction that requires cooperation with others, defending one’s position, and overcoming difficulties through joint efforts; and simulating situations of uncertainty by modifying the conditions under which exercises are performed, introducing additional rules, requiring changes in the sequence of actions, or prompting students to quickly identify alternative ways of achieving a goal. The necessity of considering school students’ age-related and individual characteristics, their level of physical fitness, and strict compliance with safety requirements is emphasized. It is substantiated that the implementation of the contextual approach creates favorable conditions for fostering moral-volitional qualities in school students.
