The Effect of Short Video Media on Knowledge, Attitudes, and Iron Supplement Consumption Intentions Among Adolescent Girls in Ngawen Health Center, Klaten, Central Java

Iron deficiency anemia among adolescent girls remains a significant public health issue, with low adherence to iron supplementation influenced by knowledge and attitudes. Health promotion efforts at community health centers (puskesmas) generally still rely on conventional media such as leaflets and posters, while video-based media more appropriate to the characteristics of today's adolescents are still rarely available. This study aimed to examine the effect of short video media on knowledge, attitudes, and intentions to consume iron supplements (TTD) among adolescent girls at Ngawen Health Center, Klaten, Central Java. A quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted in march 2026, involving 63 respondents selected through simple random sampling. The intervention consisted of 1 (one) short video of 2 minutes' duration covering the definition of anemia, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and the correct benefits and method of TTD consumption. The video was developed through a needs analysis phase, production using CapCut and Canva Pro, and validation by a midwives and cadres puskesmas, then distributed via WhatsApp Story. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results show significant improvements in knowledge (Z = -6.916; p < 0.001), attitudes (Z = -6.850; p < 0.001), and intention to consume TTD (Z = -6.708; p < 0.001), with mean increases of 43.32, 30.02, and 23.14 points, respectively. Short video media is effective in enhancing understanding, fostering positive attitudes, and strengthening intentions to consume TTD among adolescent girls. Therefore, short video media can be recommended as an innovative and relevant digital health promotion strategy to prevent anemia among adolescent girls in primary healthcare settings
