Advanced Backend Technologies using MongoDB: A Scalable NoSQL Database for Modern Web, Cloud, and AI Applications
Modern web applications require databases that provide high performance, flexibility, and scalability to manage large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Traditional relational databases often face challenges in handling rapidly changing application requirements. MongoDB, a leading NoSQL document-oriented database, addresses these challenges through its flexible schema, distributed architecture, and cloud-native capabilities. This paper presents a study of MongoDB and its role in advanced backend technologies. It discusses MongoDB's document model, replication, sharding, indexing, and aggregation framework along with its integration with modern backend frameworks such as Node.js, Express.js, FastAPI, and Spring Boot. The paper also explores MongoDB Atlas for cloud deployment and its applications in microservices, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data. A comparison with traditional SQL databases is provided to evaluate performance, scalability, and flexibility. The study concludes that MongoDB is an efficient and future-ready database solution for building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend applications.
