Editors' Introduction
In 1986, Gillian Rose delivered a lecture course at the University of Sussex on the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard.'There was no set reading list', a student recalls.Instead, Rose encouraged her students to watch some seemingly unrelated films-Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander, for instance-and read some seemingly unrelated fiction, such as 'The Immortal Story' by Isak Dinesen. 1 It is in this spirit that we approach the titular theme of this special issue, 'Gillian Rose & Literature'.The essays presented in this special issue demonstrate, in different ways, just how relevant literature is to Rose's philosophy.
