Fernando Herrero Tejedor, una trayectoria falangista al servicio del régimen franquista (1920-1975)

Fernando Herrero Tejedor (1920-1975) was a key figure in the political class of the Franco dictatorship. After his initial activities connected to the revolutionary discourse of the Falangists of the 1950s, Herrero Tejedor evolved into the position of an open-minded bureaucrat from various institutional positions at the service of the State and the National Movement, reaching his highest levels when he was named Minister-Secretary General of the Movement in 1975. His project of political openness was based on the idea of a “democracia social” that, within the framework of the Movement and the organic model, would allow for greater political participation by society that would help legitimize the regime, becoming one of the main defenders of political associationism. This article traces the vital journey through the political career of Fernando Herrero Tejedor which, supported by unpublished material from his personal archive, aims to draw a biographical portrait of his figure that also allows us to approach the doctrinal, discursive and strategic evolution of the Falangist sectors and the National Movement
