Clinical features of E. faecalis and Enterobacteriaceae and MMP-9 in the colon after elimination of end colostomas
Reconstructive restorative surgery is considered by coloproctologists and patients as the final stage of treatment following obstructive resection of the colon. The relevance of this issue increases every year. This is due to several factors: the growing number of colon surgeries that require a temporary stoma, improved survival rates of patients after cancer treatment, and a shift in the focus of modern medicine toward not only preserving life but also ensuring its high quality. In recent years, evidence has emerged regarding the role of the colonic microbiota in the process of intestinal wall remodeling, which affects the success of reconstructive restorative surgery.
