This article forges the concept of the Transducer, the ordinal sorting infrastructure that captures the fold, the sedimented history of past inequalities, within the apparently neutral criteria of organizations, and converts it into durable exclusion without intention, doctrine or bias. An agent-based simulation establishes its logical sufficiency: two properties, sorting the weakest and excluding to the point of renunciation, generate a widening access gap between groups, invisible to audits controlling the file and carried mostly by those who stop applying. Ordinal sorting thus hollows out real equality at its very core, access to resources, as rule compliance coexists with widening gaps. The field of application is racialized societies, where documentation is richest, and the text extracts three falsifiable signatures: the divergence between the gap at the counter and the gap over the population, the share of renunciation in the total gap, and the share of the gap retained by the record.

Abstract

The Transducer: The Ordinal Making of Real Inequality. A Simulation Case Study in Racialized Societies.AbstractHow does inequality reproduce itself when no rule commands it? Its counterpart, the Detransducer, points to ex ante vigilance over access distributions.
