die wite engel bouen d dör – Abgrenzungsprobleme bei Sprachanalysen Friedrichstädter Briefe des 17. Jahrhunderts
It is not always easy to distinguish between languages in the analysis of historical documents. This is true in general, but especially for closely related languages such as (Low) German and Dutch. This contribution examines some of these difficulties based on 17th-century private letters from the Dutch foundation Friedrichstadt in Schleswig-Holstein and tries to show that they nevertheless can contribute to a better understanding of multilingualism in the Early Modern times.
