Cuidados de enfermagem na prevenção de lesões por pressão em pacientes hospitalizados.

Pressure injuries (PI) represent one of the major challenges to patient safety and the quality of care in hospital environments, being directly associated with increased hospital length of stay, healthcare costs, and morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to analyze, through an integrative literature review, the main nursing care practices and evidence-based strategies focused on the prevention of pressure injuries in hospitalized patients. The methodology consisted of a bibliographic survey of articles indexed in the SciELO and PubMed/PMC databases, considering studies focused on risk assessment, implementation of institutional protocols, use of assistive technologies, and professional training. The results demonstrate that effective prevention requires systematic nursing action, highlighting the early use of validated screening instruments, such as the Braden Scale, rigorous adherence to repositioning routines, the appropriate use of support surfaces, and continuous investment in permanent education programs. It is concluded that evidence-based nursing care is the central axis for mitigating this adverse event, promoting patient safety, tissue integrity, and excellence in the care of critical and hospitalized patients.
