The Story of Water

A poem tracing the story of water through the evolution of life, from the first ‘intelligent gel’ to humans. Its sequence (gels, cells, organelles, sexual cells and shells; then scales, skin, feathers, fur and fashion) underlies the author’s five-phase model of transformation. Written over more than fifteen years and completed in 2020, with minor revisions to wording and punctuation since. An illustrated edition is in preparation.
