O colapso da barragem em Mariana e a projeção de gráficos financeiros
Different perspectives in Mathematics Education approach the creation of graphics in various ways. This paper analyzes the graphic and textual records of thirteen Brazilian undergraduates during a task to assess their financial knowledge. Forty-seven students projected the share prices of various companies, such as Vale S.A. Thirteen mentioned the dam collapse in Mariana, Minas Gerais, to justify their projections. The analysis revealed a cognitive bias, leading to an overestimation of the duration of the financial impact of the collapse on the company's share price. This bias highlights the need to consider psychological components in financial behavior when addressing Financial Education, especially in the context of Brazilian Mathematics Education. This is relevant given the framework outlined in the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC), a normative document defining essential learning objectives for Brazil.
