Efficacy and life expectancy in glioblastoma patients with oncolytic virus intervention: A systematic review of clinical cases. v1
Glioblastoma is currently one of the most aggressive tumors, with high mortality rates and poor prognosis, characterized by rapid and invasive progression, with an incidence rate of 3.23 per 100,000 inhabitants. It presents low survival rates and high mortality. In this systematic review, we aim to investigate the use of oncolytic viruses in the treatment of patients with glioblastoma, comparing this approach with other therapeutic strategies in terms of efficacy and improvement in patient prognosis. We will examine all randomized controlled trials published since 2016, using major databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and clinical trial registries. Each study will be carefully reviewed by our team, with special attention to how these treatments impact symptom severity and what adverse effects may occur. To ensure the reliability of our findings, two independent reviewers will assess each piece of evidence. Following PRISMA guidelines, our goal is to provide healthcare professionals with clear, evidence-based answers regarding the potential use of oncolytic viruses. We are particularly interested not only in whether these treatments are effective, but also in how they interact with the tumor. Before initiating the full analysis, we will register our detailed protocol with PROSPERO to promote transparency and avoid duplication of research.
