Cloud-Based Employee Attendance System

Attendance is an important activity for maintaining accurate records of presence and absence in educational institutions and organizations. Traditional attendance methods based on manual registers, spreadsheets, or locally maintained records may require considerable time and effort for recording, updating, storing, retrieving, and monitoring attendance information. Such approaches can also make centralized access and systematic reporting more difficult. The emergence of cloud computing provides an alternative approach for managing information through network-accessible computing resources. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), cloud computing enables convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources, including networks, servers, storage, applications, and services [1]. The characteristics of cloud computing, such as broad network access, resource pooling, and on-demand availability, provide a suitable technological foundation for applications that require centralized information management. In the context of attendance, cloud technology can support the recording and storage of attendance information while allowing authorized users to access relevant records through a web-based interface. This research focuses on studying the applicability of cloud technology for a Cloud Based Attendance System, with emphasis on attendance recording, centralized data storage, accessibility, monitoring, attendance history, leave management, and report generation. A prototype system is considered to demonstrate the practical implementation of the proposed approach and to examine its functional capabilities. The research evaluates the proposed system from functional and practical perspectives while considering factors such as accessibility, data organization, authentication, security, usability, and system limitations. Existing research has also investigated cloud-based attendance management and identified the potential of cloud infrastructure for improving the management and storage of attendance-related information [2]. The study therefore aims to provide a structured understanding of how cloud computing can be applied to attendance management and how a centralized cloud-based approach can support more organized handling of attendance records..
