Ethical Leadership, Professional Development, Organizational Commitment, and Workload: A Structural Equation Model of Teachers’ Effectiveness

The research investigated the impact of ethical leadership, professional development, organizational commitment, and workload on teacher effectiveness in public secondary schools in Region XII, Philippines. Employing structural equation modeling (SEM) with data from 400 stratified randomly selected educators, the study identified elevated levels of ethical leadership, professional growth, and organizational commitment among participants. The investigation revealed that professional development and organizational commitment exert direct, significant influences on teacher effectiveness, whereas ethical leadership and workload affect effectiveness indirectly. Essential components of teacher success encompassed preparation, classroom management, subject expertise, and interpersonal relations, whereas ethical leadership was defined by transparency, integrity, and ethical role modeling. The study underscores the necessity for policy reforms to augment professional development opportunities, fortify organizational commitment, and tackle workload concerns, with the goal of enhancing teacher efficacy. These findings endorse the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals pertaining to quality education, gender equality, well-being, decent work, and robust institutions, hence advocating for inclusive and high-quality education.
