Normative and Philosophical Boundaries of Platform Governance and Digital Profiling
The article analyzes platform governance and digital profiling not merely as descriptions of conduct but as mechanisms that sort opportunities, direct attention and shape choice environments. It develops criteria distinguishing beneficial personalization from manipulative influence. Normative legitimacy is grounded in visibility, reversibility, genuine alternatives, non-exploitation of vulnerability and contestability. A profile is treated as a probabilistic inference rather than a person’s moral identity.
