INTERCEPTIVE AND ORTHOPEDIC TREATMENT OF CLASS II AND CLASS III SKELETAL DISCREPANCIES
Class II and Class III sagittal skeletal discrepancies are complex craniofacial developmental alterations that affect facial aesthetics and masticatory function. This study analyzed scientific evidence on the diagnosis and interceptive treatment of these malocclusions in growing patients. Aspects such as the sagittal positioning of the glenoid fossa, the support of the anteroinferior alveolar bone, and discrepancies in tooth-size proportions impose relevant biomechanical limitations. Early orthopedic intervention has demonstrated effectiveness in harmonizing the skeletal bases, readjusting occlusion, and preventing periodontal complications and temporomandibular disorders.
