The (Digital) Map is Not the Terrain: Locating Our Selves in Land/Water Places

We examine the concept of shimmerance as it relates to geolocation technologies, identities, and the notion Place and Place making. We explore this idea through posthumanist feminist messy storytelling events that begin with two of us getting lost on the way to a lake and then finding our way once we stopped looking at the geopositioning system. With Land/Water bodies, we find mutual vibrancy and new ways to see ourselves and our work.

Abstract

We examine the concept of shimmerance as it relates to geolocation technologies, identities, and the notion Place and Place making. We explore this idea through posthumanist feminist messy storytelling events that begin with two of us getting lost on the way to a lake and then finding our way once we stopped looking at the geopositioning system. With Land/Water bodies, we find mutual vibrancy and new ways to see ourselves and our work.
