The Influence of Age and Sexual Dimorphism on Hitting Distances in Junior Golf
This article analyzes golf academy students' hitting distances using three clubs: a driver, a 7-iron, and a pitching wedge. The study included 68 athletes aged 7 to 18, with handicaps ranging from -27 to +1.5. The tests were conducted in five age groups. It was found that boys' hitting distances exceed those of girls when hitting with similar clubs across all age categories. The greatest increase in the hitting distance difference was recorded in the 13-14 age group. The authors propose principles for determining the relative positions of teeing grounds for players of different sexes in mixed-gender tournaments with combined scoring and give recommendations for adjusting the tee box distances between boys and girls in two age groups – 7-12 and 13-18 years – for Par-3, Par-4, and Par-5 holes.
