The Effect of Serum Vaspin and Adiponectin Levels on Coronary Slow Flow

Aim: Coronary slow flow (CSF) is an angiographic finding characterized by delayed distal vessel opacification in the absence of significant coronary artery disease. Although endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and occult atherosclerosis have been proposed as possible mechanisms, its pathogenesis remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the association between serum adiponectin and vaspin levels and coronary slow flow.Materials and Methods: The study included 40 patients with CSF and 38 patients with normal coronary flow who underwent elective coronary angiography. Coronary blood flow was assessed using the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction frame count method, and serum adiponectin and vaspin levels were measured in all participants. Results: Adiponectin levels did not differ significantly between the CSF and normal coronary flow groups. Vaspin levels were significantly higher in the CSF group than in the normal coronary flow group (p < 0.001).Conclusion: Serum vaspin levels were significantly elevated in patients with CSF, suggesting a possible association between increased circulating vaspin concentrations and coronary slow flow.
