Descriptive Laboratory Profiles in a Nasopharyngeal Pathology Extract: An Exploratory Profile-Level Case—Comparison Study with Qualitative Endoscopic Image Review

Background: Routine laboratory measurements require reliable source linkage and independent observations before clinical interpretation. We descriptively examined an extract containing records labeled as nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) or benign adenoid-associated pathology. Methods: This retrospective, single-center analysis concerned 72 recorded rows, comprising 36 NPC-labeled and 36 benign-labeled records. Identical non-demographic vectors were summarized as 12 NPC-labeled and 24 benign-labeled physiological profiles, without treating these as confirmed independent patients. An undocumented hepatic inflammatory score was excluded. The AST-to-platelet ratio index (APRI) was calculated post hoc using an AST upper reference limit of 33 U/L and summarized descriptively. Endoscopic images and their analysis were excluded because image-to-record linkage and publication authorization were not verified. Results: Each of the 12 NPC core profiles, defined by the recorded inflammatory score, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and leukocyte count, occurred three times in the extract. The median APRI was 0.289 (IQR 0.239–0.336) in NPC-labeled profiles and 0.337 (IQR 0.288–0.405) in benign-labeled profiles. These distributions describe recorded laboratory vectors and do not establish patient-level group differences or biological associations. Conclusions: The extract contains repeated laboratory patterns whose origin and patient-level independence remain unresolved. Source-record verification is required before clinical inference. The descriptive summaries do not establish a hepatic phenotype, diagnostic performance, prognosis, or disease-specific biological mechanism.
