STUDY OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE RS12255372 (G/T) POLYMORPHISM AND ANTHROPOMETRIC PARAMETERS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major public health concern resulting from interactions between environmental, anthropometric, and genetic factors. The TCF7L2 gene plays a key role in genetic susceptibility to T2D, and the rs12255372 polymorphism has been associated with T2D risk in various populations. This study investigated the distribution of the rs12255372 (G/T) polymorphism and its associations with sociodemographic, anthropometric, familial, and behavioral factors.A total of 150 subjects, including 80 diabetic patients and 70 non-diabetic controls, were enrolled.Sociodemographic and anthropometric data, family history, and physical activity were assessed.DNA was extracted from dried blood spots using the Chelex method. The polymorphism was investigated by allele-specific polymerase chain reaction, followed by agarose gel electrophoresis.
