Transformasi Pertunjukan Bagurau Lapiak dalam Ekosistem Digital Tiktok Live di Kota Payakumbuh

Bagurau lapiak is a Minangkabau traditional performance practice associated with sung poetry, humor, and social interaction between performers and pagurau. The development of digital media has created opportunities for this practice to be presented through TikTok Live. This article discusses the adaptation of bagurau lapiak within a digital ecosystem, drawing on preliminary information contained in a research proposal on virtual live-streaming performances in Payakumbuh. The proposed study employs a qualitative approach, virtual ethnography, and Cyber Media Analysis, covering media space, media documents, media objects, and user experience. The preliminary materials include an initial interview with a lapiak owner and a social-media user, as well as documentation of a TikTok Live session. These materials point to several issues for further investigation, particularly changes in presentation space, interaction through comments and song requests, and connections between live performances and digital spaces. However, the preliminary information is insufficient to conclude that TikTok Live has replaced in-person performances or increased audience numbers and performers’ income. Digitalization is therefore discussed as a potential expansion of the performance space that must be examined through complete field data.
