Recovery of Sine

A small useless exploration I did back in June 2026. We obtain the values of sin(x) for all real x using a look-up table that gives us the values of sin(x) for x in the interval [0, π/2]. A closed form expression involving the floor function is derived for fun. Stricter restrictions with even smaller look-up tables are explored, acknowledging the probable lack of practicality for the same. Personal website: WinterNox

Abstract

A small useless exploration I did back in June 2026. We obtain the values of sin(x) for all real x using a look-up table that gives us the values of sin(x) for x in the interval [0, π/2]. A closed form expression involving the floor function is derived for fun. Stricter restrictions with even smaller look-up tables are explored, acknowledging the probable lack of practicality for the same. Personal website: WinterNox
