Application of Internet of Things (IoT) on Improving Performance within Global Manufacturing Supply Chains

Internet of Things (IoT) in the context of supply chains (SC) is mainly observed with integration to build resilience. It has discussed the rationale in terms of disruptions caused by the pandemic, the economic and political situation. It has elaborated on the issues such as labor and material shortages affecting demand and supply sides. IoT impacts greatly on the manufacturing SC to enhance efficiency and transparency. Besides this, the implementation of IoT technology has monitored manufacturing procedures and enhanced productivity to deliver a safer working space. In addition to this, this technology has improved supply chain performance to resolve the operational bottleneck and use OTA methods. The study has discussed the factors related to the vulnerabilities of IoT systems, and it has mainly focused on security issues leading to increased concerns. In the context of a SC system, organization and supplier networks are required to work together to get optimal performance. The study explores different methodologies for collecting data. Interpretivism philosophy, exploratory design, inductive approach, and secondary data collection methods have been chosen in this study. Data has been provided in support of the findings in linking them with objectives. It includes that IoT can use different techniques to improve the SC performance and advance the production process.
