D3.1: State of the art of food packaging systems
Plastic packaging has become an integral part of our daily lives, offering convenience and protection for a wide range of products. However, the widespread use of plastic packaging has led to significant environmental challenges, including pollution, resource depletion, and waste management issues. As we confront the pressing need to address these issues, transitioning to a circular economy of plastics packaging emerges as a crucial solution. This report provides an overview of the plastic food packaging landscape and synthetises the current state of the arts related to recycled and reusable plastic food packaging.
