Pengaruh Parenting Self-Efficacy Terhadap Kompetensi Sosial Emosional Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun di Kelurahan Nonbes

Social-emotional competence is an important aspect of early childhood development that is strongly influenced by the quality of parenting within the family. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of parenting self-efficacy on the social-emotional competence of children aged 5-6 years in Nonbes Village, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency. The method in this research is quantitative with an ex post facto design. The sampling technique was saturated sampling, namely all mothers of children aged 5-6 years at TK Dharwasi Nonbes and PAUD Penabur Oekabiti, totaling 47 respondents. The data collection technique uses Likert-scale questionnaires with instruments in the form of a parenting self-efficacy scale (20 items) and a children’s social-emotional competence scale (25 items), both of which were valid and reliable (α = 0.910 and α = 0.937). The data analysis technique is simple linear regression using IBM SPSS 22. The results showed that parenting self-efficacy and children’s social-emotional competence were both in the moderate category, with mean scores of 62.04 (60% of respondents) and 77.17 (70% of children), respectively. The regression equation Y = 26.499 + 0.817X, with a t value of 5.685 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, showed that parenting self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on the social-emotional competence of children aged 5-6 years by 41.8%, which means that the higher the mother’s parenting self-efficacy, the better the social-emotional competence of early childhood. It is hoped that parents will improve their knowledge, skills, self-confidence, and involvement in parenting and cooperate with early childhood educators in stimulating children’s social-emotional development.
