Training of artillery officers at the Dnepropetrovsk Red Banner Artillery School during the Great Patriotic War

Research Aim. To analyze the activities of the Dnepropetrovsk Red Banner Artillery School during the Great Patriotic War, specifically: a brief history of the school's establishment; the organization of the educational process; the procedure for staffing the school with varying personnel; the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of incoming and trained artillery officers; the reasons for graduates' weak training; the procedures and conditions for relocating the school to Tomsk and back; the content of the auxiliary economy; and the availability of the educational and material base. The relevance of the topic is due to the fact that the period of the Great Patriotic War in the school's history is practically not covered in open sources, and there are no studies highlighting this page of history based on archival materials. Research methods: analytical, scientific, cause-and-effect, historical-systematic. As a result of the research, the author concludes that the Dnepropetrovsk Red Banner Artillery School, like others (2nd Rostov, 2nd Tomsk, 2nd Penza, 2nd Kyiv, etc.), was included in the Red Army artillery training system due to the army's need for artillery officers, including for newly formed units and formations. During the Great Patriotic War, the school's personnel were awarded a government decoration (the Order of the Red Banner) for the feats performed by its staff in the first months of the war. Throughout the war, the school trained and graduated 4,542 qualified artillery officers, which made an undeniable contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
