trans -Rich Skeletal Transformation of a Cross-Conjugated Polymer via 1,4-Selective Hydrothiolation
Previous skeletal transformations of cross-conjugated polymers into linear-conjugated structures have been limited to methods involving cyclization, which form only a cis structure on the main chain. In this study, cross-conjugated polymer containing 2,3-linked 1,3-butadiene was successfully converted into a linear-conjugated polymer with cis / trans -isomeric main chains via 1,4-selective hydrothiolation, achieving up to 71% trans -selectivity. In addition, the factors influencing the regio- and stereoselectivities were examined using density functional theory calculations.
