Species of Synopeas Förster (Platygastroidea: Platygastridae) Associated with the Blueberry Gall Midge Complex (Dasineura oxycoccana (Johnson) and Prodiplosis vaccinii (Felt) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae))
The blueberry gall midge complex is an important pest group with limited information on its natural enemies. Two Synopeas species (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) associated with blueberry gall midges are recognized in this paper: S. pennsylvanicum (Fouts, 1924) and S. wabanaki Raymond and Mikó new species. Both species are diagnosed using morphological and molecular data. This study aids the morphological and molecular identification of effective natural enemies of the blueberry gall midge complex.
