Case History of a Patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
This academic paper presents a systematic approach to the clinical examination, diagnosis, and management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). It discusses the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria, laboratory investigations, differential diagnosis, and rationale for individualized treatment. The paper also highlights the prevention and monitoring of acute and chronic complications, including diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, and cardiovascular disease. An illustrative hypothetical case history demonstrates how clinical findings and laboratory results are used to establish a diagnosis and justify treatment decisions. The paper aims to strengthen medical students’ clinical reasoning and their ability to present and defend a clinical case.
