Analisis Hasil Uji Tekan Nylon, Kayu Sengon Serat Tegak-Mendatar, Bata Merah, dan Bata Ringan

The lack of precise knowledge of the compressive strength of Nylon, vertical-horizontal grain sengon wood, red brick, and lightweight brick as the problem faced. The aim of the research is to obtain the compressive strength values of Nylon, vertical-horizontal grain Sengon wood, red brick, and lightweight brick. The analysis methods include: cutting Nylon with a diameter of 17 mm and a length of 34.32 mm, cutting vertical- and horizontal-grain Sengon wood measuring 49x53x53 mm, cutting red brick measuring 48x43x50 mm, cutting lightweight brick measuring 93x91x88 mm, compressive testing of Nylon until bulging and compressive testing of Sengon wood, red brick, and lightweight brick until cracking/breaking, data analysis and drawing conclusions. The compression test results showed a compressive strength of Nylon of 15.9 MPa, at a shortening of 3.6% with relaxation reaching 10.00 % for 8 minutes, the compressive strength of vertical-grain Sengon wood was 15.9 MPa, horizontal-grain Sengon wood was 2.86 MPa or approximately 5 times lower than vertical grain, the compressive strength of red brick was 0.79 MPa, and lightweight brick was 1,66 MPa, which implies that the grain direction of wood greatly affects its compressive strength, and especially Nylon-polymer material has a relaxation value compared to other materials.
