Review on the Localized Construction of Modern Chinese New Nouns from the Perspective of Modern Enlightenment
The late Qing and early Republican periods were marked by profound transformations in Chinese society and language. With the spread of Western learning, numerous modern Western concepts entered traditional Chinese academia, promoting large-scale lexical renewal and semantic reshaping in Chinese. Against the background of modern ideological enlightenment, this paper focuses on the emergence, evolution and localization of modern Chinese new nouns. Adopting literature research and inductive analysis, it systematically reviews relevant academic studies drawn from scholarly databases. This study mainly explores two core issues: the major research dimensions and core academic viewpoints of existing research on modern new nouns,as well as the pathways through which new nouns emerge, evolve, and become localized in the context of modern enlightenment. The research concludes that the localization of modern Chinese new nouns is not only a lexical renovation process, but also a crucial driving force for modern Chinese ideological enlightenment, national consciousness shaping and social and cultural transformation.
