Dual Literacy Synergy: A Participatory Approach To Learning Qur’anic Recitation (Tahsin) And Latin Reading And Writing At MTSN 02 Kampar

This community service (PKM) activity was executed as a core component of the KKN 07 work program organized by the Institut Agama Islam (IAI) IMSYA Indonesia in Koto Tibun Village, Kampar District. The primary objective was to address a dual deficit in literacy skills among students at MTsN 02 Kampar, specifically concerning accurate Qur'an recitation (Tahsin) and fundamental Latin script literacy. Initial site observation indicated that a significant portion of students struggled with reading both the Qur'an according to tajwid rules and standard Latin texts fluently and correctly. The resulting intervention deployed a structured, routine, and participatory learning framework, utilizing direct guidance. The methodology combined the talaqqi and muroja’ah methods for Tahsin instruction, focusing intensively on makhārijul hurūf, alongside the phonetic method for Latin script acquisition. The program was implemented consistently every Monday to Wednesday for a period of two months. The outcomes demonstrated substantial improvements in the quality of Qur’an recitation (better adherence to tajwid and makhārijul hurūf) and enhanced Latin reading and writing proficiency. Furthermore, a remarkable increase in student enthusiasm, engagement, and attendance validated the effectiveness of the applied synergistic approach. Key outputs included the creation of a specialized Tahsin and Latin Literacy Learning Book, designed to ensure institutional sustainability. The partner school highly commended the program for its direct and positive impact on the academic and spiritual development of its students
