El pensamiento de Carlos Fonseca Amador a través de del concepto de nueva izquierda (1957-1976)
This article addresses the following question: how did the concepts of “worker” and “revolution” in the writings of Carlos Fonseca Amador resemble or differ from the characteristic features of the New Left during the period 1957–1976? For the analysis of the primary sources used—Fonseca Amador’s writings compiled by Editorial “Nueva Nicaragua” and Plutarco Elías Hernández—the conceptual history approach developed by Reinhart Koselleck was employed. His method, centered on the study of language for the construction of a “space of experience” and a “horizon of expectation,” proved useful for clarifying the role played by the concepts of “worker” and “revolution” in the construction of a Sandinista and New Left project in Nicaragua. The contribution of this study lies in identifying continuities between the ideas of the “Old Left” and Sandino’s concept of “redemption,” understood in spiritual terms, in the thought of Carlos Fonseca Amador.
