From Event Flow to Consumption Increment: The High-Quality Development of Urban Tourism Enabled by “Su Chao”

Under a background of the superposition of new urbanization and sports power strategy, the innovative practice of “Su Chao” has provided a theoretical breakthrough for the economic empowerment of urban tourism. By constructing a three-dimensional theoretical framework of “flow transformation value-added space reconstruction”, this study reveals the internal logic by which “Su Chao” is realizing economic value-added through the extension of the industrial chain, the reconstruction of the consumption scene, and the integration of digital technology. This study found that “Su Chao” broke through the dilemma of “short-term outbreaks and long-term weakness” of the traditional event economy, integrated the cultural and tourism resources of Jiangsu Province that rely on the provincial sports event platform, and formed a virtuous cycle of “event drainage—cultural and tourism consumption—industry feedback”. At the theoretical level, it puts forward the “four-dimensional value-added nature of the event economy”, that is, the synergy of flow agglomeration effect, scene extension effect, technology empowerment effect, and institutional innovation effect, which breaks through the traditional single-factor analysis paradigm. At the practical level, it verifies the feasibility of a development mode of “provincial event platform + global tourism network” and realizes the transition of urban economic and geographical patterns from “point agglomeration” to “network equilibrium” through resource integration, scene reconstruction, and system optimization. Therefore, “Su Chao” provides theoretical support for the in-depth integration of sports events and urban tourism in China and has important theoretical significance and practical value for solving the imbalances of regional development and cultivating new productivity.
