OʻZBEKISTON TIJORAT BANKLARI MISOLIDA KREDIT RISKLARI VA MUAMMOLI KREDITLAR

The article assesses the level of credit risk and the dynamics of problem loans (NPL) in commercial banks of Uzbekistan based on data for 2019–2026. The study is based on secondary statistical data from the reports of the Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank; the analysis used descriptive statistics, growth coefficients and comparative methods across bank groups. According to the results, from the end of 2019 to the end of 2025, bank assets increased by 3.4 times, and the net loan portfolio by 2.8 times. The NPL ratio increased from 1.5 percent in 2019 to 5.1 percent in 2021, then stabilized around 3.5–3.9 percent and amounted to 3.7 percent in September 2026. This indicator is higher in state-owned banks than in private banks. The official NPL ratio may not fully reflect the true size of the problem due to write-offs and reclassifications of loans. The article concludes with practical recommendations for reducing credit risk
