The Cosmological Constant as a Topological Condensate in Rotational‑Order Geometry: Framework and Leading‑Order Estimates
The standard quantum field theory prediction for the vacuum energy density exceeds the observed dark energy density by approximately 120 orders of magnitude, constituting the worst theoretical prediction in the history of physics. In this paper, we propose a resolution to this cosmological constant catastrophe within the rotational‑order geometric unification framework. We argue that the macroscopic vacuum energy is geometrically screened by the gradient of the internal S³ orientation field. At leading order, the high‑energy vacuum contribution couples to the geometric gradients, suggesting an effective screening mechanism. The residual energy density scales as ρₑff ∼ η² M_Pl² / r_c², naturally yielding the observed dark energy scale for benchmark parameters without extreme fine‑tuning. We outline the full variational derivation required to establish this mechanism rigorously and propose a testable redshift‑dependent equation of state w(z) for upcoming DESI and Euclid surveys.
