SLEMAN DARURAT SAMPAH: BAGAIMANA TEKNOLOGI GIS DAN KETERLIBATAN MASYARAKAT BISA MENJADI JAWABANNYA?

The Indonesian government is actively working towards achieving comprehensive waste management through a range of strategies implemented across different regions. The decline in waste management can be attributed to the fast-paced rise in population, urbanization, and industrial consumption across various sectors. This research focuses on identifying the primary obstacles of waste management in Sleman Regency. It involves analyzing geospatial data through GIS techniques to determine suitable locations for new waste landfills. In addition, it strives to present all-encompassing solutions that consider both environmental and economic factors at the individual and community levels. The research method employed is a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, involving the collection and analysis of data from various sources such as maps, observations, interviews, and document searches. The study findings highlight several key challenges in waste management in Sleman, including the need to address increasing waste volumes, raise public awareness, improve infrastructure, strengthen regulations and law enforcement, secure adequate funding, foster collaboration, and adapt to changing community consumption patterns. Additionally, the study identifies a suitable landfill location in Madu Rejo Village, Prambanan District, spanning 4.1 hectares, which meets national standards (SNI) and feasibility norms (SKL). Lastly, the study suggests an alternative solution that integrates waste banks, TPST3R, with TPA, and emphasizes the importance of community education in addressing these issues. Managing waste in a methodical, thorough, and sustainable manner from start to finish (from households to waste treatment facilities) brings economic advantages, promotes community health and environmental safety, and has the potential to influence people's actions.
