POWDER X-RAY DIFFRACTION EVALUATION OF THE CRYSTALLINE PHASE IN SYNTHESIZED Mg-MOF-74
The crystalline phase of a solvothermally obtained magnesium metal–organic framework was evaluated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). The sample had been prepared from Mg(NO₃)₂·6H₂O and 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid using a DMF–ethanol–water mixture, followed by vacuum activation. The diffraction pattern recorded with a SHIMADZU XRD-6100 displayed characteristic reflections near 2θ = 6.8° and 11.8–12.3°, consistent with the expected low-angle signature of Mg-MOF-74. The pattern also showed reflections over the 20–45° interval without pronounced additional peaks attributed to other crystalline phases in the source analysis. These observations support a preliminary assignment but cannot alone establish quantitative phase purity or exclude amorphous material.
