ASSESSING HOW INFRASTRUCTURE-LEVEL ENGINEERING APPROACHES SHIFT FOCUS FROM DEPLOYMENT EFFICIENCY TO SYSTEMIC RELIABILITY

Infrastructure-level 5G planning frameworks that combine physical site selection, multi-objective optimi-zation across capital, timeline, and reliability, and closed-loop reinforcement-learning correction have reported coordinated improvements across all three objectives in heterogeneous deployment scenarios. This review examines the quantitative relationship one such framework reports between planning-stage reliability esti-mates and post-deployment measurements at high site density, and reads that relationship against two estab-lished results: a stochastic-geometry derivation showing that coverage probability under an idealized inde-pendent-shadowing model does not vary with base station density, and a shadow-fading correlation model whose decorrelation distance sets the spatial scale over which that independence assumption applies. Within a defined inter-site spacing regime, the reported values show that the interference model's calibrated correlation structure accounts for the larger share of the difference between predicted and realized reliability, while post-deployment correction accounts for a smaller, separately measurable portion. Positioned against decorrelation-distance figures documented for comparable dense urban environments, the specific spacing at which this difference appears sits close to the point where the density-invariance result from the stochastic-geometry literature stops describing the deployment being planned, which gives a reliability floor already described for multi-layer 5G architectures a location tied to a measurable spatial parameter.
