Health Care Practices and Knowledge of the Shanenawá Indigenous People in Brazil- Scoping Review
This scoping review aims to map the available evidence on health care practices and traditional knowledge of the Shanenawá Indigenous People in Brazil. It will explore Indigenous understandings of health, illness, healing, and wellbeing, including the use of medicinal plants, traditional healing practices, ancestral knowledge, and community-based care. The review will also examine how these practices are transmitted across generations, their cultural and territorial contexts, and their interactions with formal health services. By identifying key concepts, knowledge gaps, and methodological approaches, this review seeks to contribute to the recognition of Indigenous knowledge systems and inform culturally appropriate, equitable, and intercultural health care policies and practices.
