Sobrecarga nas emergências: mapeamento das vítimas de agressões por armas de fogo e brancas no estado de São Paulo

Interpersonal violence is a public health problem and may generate demand for prehospital care, emergency services, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. This study aimed to describe the age distribution of deaths due to assaults involving firearms and sharp or penetrating objects in the state of São Paulo, based on aggregated data from the Brazilian Mortality Information System (SIM/DATASUS) for 2015–2025. This was a descriptive quantitative epidemiological study using secondary data. The table combines ICD-10 codes X93, X94, X95, and X99 and reports 29,259 deaths by place of residence and 28,886 by place of occurrence. The highest count was observed among people aged 20–29 years (8,887 deaths by residence), followed by those aged 30–39 years (8,191). Together, these age groups accounted for 17,078 records, approximately 58.4% of the total by residence. The findings describe the age profile of mortality but are insufficient on their own to measure the burden on emergency services.

The findings describe the age profile of mortality but are insufficient on their own to measure the burden on emergency services.
