Karakteristik Degradasi Tepung Kedelai Terprokteksi Tanin Kondensasi Dari Ekstrak Daun Sengon
This study aimed to determine the effect of protecting soybean meal (SBM) using condensed tannins (CT) extracted from *Albizia falcataria* (sengon) leaves on its ruminal degradation characteristics. A completely randomized design (CRD) was employed with four treatments—P0 (unprotected), P1 (2% CT), P2 (4% CT), and P3 (6% CT)—and six replicates. Degradation was evaluated *in vitro* using the ANKOM Daisy Incubator method at incubation times of 0, 3, 6, 12, and 48 hours. Parameters observed included fraction a, fraction b, the degradation rate of fraction b (c), and total degradation potential (a+b) for dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), and crude protein (CP). The results showed that protecting SBM with CT significantly (P<0.05) affected the degradation kinetics of DM, OM, and CP. The values for fraction ‘a’, fraction ‘b’, and the degradation rate of fraction ‘b’ (c) for DM, OM, and CP decreased as the level of condensed tannins increased; however, there was no significant effect (P>0.05) on the total degradation (a+b). It is concluded that protecting soybean meal with condensed tannins from *Albizia falcataria* leaf extract effectively reduces nutrient degradation in the rumen, with the 4% CT treatment providing the best protective effect, thereby offering the potential to increase bypass protein available for digestion in the small intestine.
