Effects of MgSO₄ and Urea Application Rates on the Yield of Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)
This study aims to determine the effect of MgSO₄ and urea doses on yield of sesame. This experimental design was arranged using CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with two treatments, sulfur (MgSO4) dose as the first factor and urea dose as the second factor. Sulfur dose consisted three levels : 0 kg/ha; 50 kg/ha; 100 kg/ha) and urea consisted four levels : 0; 75; 100; 125 kg/ha. Observation data were analyzed using the analysis of variance (ANOVA), if it shows a significant effect; it will be continued with the HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) test at a level of 5%. Observation variables included number of branches, number of pods per plant, weight of seeds per plant, 1000–weight seeds, and oil yield. Results showed that different doses of MgSO₄ and urea did not have a significant effect on the parameters of the number of planting pods, the weight of planting seeds, and the weight of 1000 grains. But higher oil yield was obtained from plants with MgSO₄ 100 kg/ha and urea 0 kg/ha.
